The Research Investment for Global Health Technology (RIGHT) Foundation, is a Korean, non-profit organization established by the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Gates Foundation, and Korean Life science companies. Our mission is to alleviate the burden of infectious diseases that disproportionately affect the people in limited resource settings. We strive to contribute to improving health and health equity globally through collaborations between Korean and international life science researchers. The RIGHT Foundation, to be referred to as “the Foundation” from herein, is currently seeking a qualified candidate. The Foundation is recruiting a Senior Program Officer or Program Officer in the Programs & Strategy team. The team

The core function of the Programs and Strategy (P&S) team is to:
  • Design and develop programs to guide investments in project funding for product development, evidence generation, and training for the Foundation
  • Define and execute a strategic approach for achieving the Foundation’s mission and objectives
  • Actively manage the Foundation-funded grants (“the grants” from herein) through deep engagement with grantees in order to generate strategic insights to guide portfolio development
  • Assess and communicate the global health impact of funded programs (e.g. Product Development, Evidence Generation, and Training in Biomanufacturing)
  • Identify opportunities to leverage investments to achieve optimal impact; monitor project activities and take preventive action to mitigate risks
  • Utilize the network to catalyze productive international partnerships for current and future grantees


Position Summary

The Senior Program Officer (SPO) or Program Officer (PO) actively manages a portfolio of grants including, but not limited to, development of vaccines, therapeutics/biologics, and diagnostics. This role will require advanced technical understanding and experience in the R&D pathway of at least one of the vaccines, therapeutics, biologics, or diagnostic platforms. The (S)PO will engage grantee teams to evaluate progress towards milestones and provide technical and administrative support to maximize the probability of technical and regulatory success of the project. The (S)PO will support the P&S Director by providing insights on grants under management related to how alignment to the Foundation’s core strategies. The (S)PO will be expected to collaborate closely with the Investment Portfolio Management team, which leads the proposal selection process and ensures compliance of the grant management with the Foundation’s Investment Standard Operating Procedures.



Core Responsibilities

The SPO/PO will:
  • Actively manage the grants via structured engagement with the grantees. Lead online and offline meetings with the grantee team.
  • Facilitate timely completion of project milestones and lead the process of engaging external technical experts for milestone review.
  • Lead the internal administrative process required for contractual amendments related to grants under management.
  • Execute administrative functions in compliance with the Foundation’s internal grant management systems and reporting procedures.
  • Synthesize and communicate summaries of the progress of the Foundation grants for internal and external communication.
  • Engage in a thought partnership with the grantees to estimate the impact and potential risks to achieving impact.
  • Conduct high-quality analyses of the anticipated impact and risks of the grants.
  • Create, refine, and safeguard key project-related documents, including board approval documents and management reports.
  • Support the P&S Director as required.

  • Excellent project management and communication skills (i.e. oral and written communication in English and Korean)
  • Highly organized and capable of working independently
  • Experience in synthesizing and communicating technical information towards strategic decision-making
  • Experience in biomedical R&D, product development, and regulatory approval process is highly desirable
  • Ability to learn and apply new content quickly, identify connections and second-order implications
  • Extensive experience in consulting scientific literature and reading technical documents
  • Excellent listening skills to collaborate with other teams effectively
  • Experience in working in multi-cultural environments and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with collaborators across cultural and language barriers
  • Skilled in problem solving and applying creative approaches to achieving desired outcomes
  • Fluency in written and spoken Korean and proficiency in English


Education & Experience

  • Post-graduate degree in biological sciences or engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an R&D setting, including clinical development, Chemistry, Manufacturing, Controls (CMC), translational research, biomedical research, or regulatory sciences.
  • Experience in product development of vaccines, therapeutics/biologics, or diagnostics is highly desirable.

Working Conditions

  • Working hours: 40 hours a week

  • Salary: Negotiated based on the level of expertise and experience . RIGHT Foundation offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
