He has contributed to global health as a special adviser to UNAIDS and through membership in the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee (IBC). In addition to a clinical practice in consultant Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the BC Children\u2019s Hospital, he leads a translational research program in global pediatric infections. Diseases of focus include some of the leading infectious disease killers of children in the world today: malaria, pneumonia, Ebola, and HIV. He operates field sites in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Innovation Center, Korea University College of Medicine, and currently serves as Chairperson of the Infectious Diseases Response Committee of the Korean Medical Association. A renowned expert in infectious diseases, Professor Kim previously served in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Guro Hospital, Korea University, where he led numerous national health initiatives. His contributions include spearheading the establishment of the Korean Influenza Surveillance Scheme (KISS) during his time at the Korea National Institute of Health (KNIH), as well as advising the National Advisory Committee on Influenza and chairing the Trans-governmental Enterprise for Pandemic Influenza in Korea (TEPIK). During the 2015 MERS-CoV outbreak in Korea, his swift leadership was instrumental in containing the epidemic within two months. Professor Kim\u2019s achievements have been recognized with honors such as the '15th Bayer Clinical Medicine Award' and the 'Dr. Ilhan New Award' for excellence in public health communication. He has also served as President of the Korean Society of Internal Medicine, the Korean Vaccine Society, and the Korean Society of Infectious Diseases. He is promoting the importance of vaccination through scientific communication to the public. Now in his emeritus role, Professor Kim remains actively engaged in advancing infectious disease research and mentoring the next generation of
